How the Honnold Foundation saved 80 hours per application with Submittable

In 2012, famous rock climber Alex Honnold founded the Honnold Foundation to increase access to solar energy for grassroots organizations globally. As the foundation expanded, managing a growing number of applications became challenging. Kate Trujillo, the foundation’s director of programs, adopted Submittable to streamline the process.

Before Submittable, applications were handled manually via email PDFs, which was time-consuming and inefficient. With Submittable, the foundation saved over 80 hours per application season and supported organizations in 90 countries, making the process more accessible for non-English speakers and easier for both applicants and reviewers.
